In a significant leap forward for sustainable technology, the multisensor sorting tool has officially landed at the at Dismeco Srl. This innovation, developed through collaboration between IREC – Institut de Recerca en Energia de Catalunya and Lenz Instruments, S.L., promises to improve the recycling industry by effectively identifying and sorting different types of photovoltaic backsheet (pvb) materials.

With the installation of this state-of-the-art equipment, colleagues from IREC and Lenz Instruments are currently engaged in rigorous testing and calibration, imparting the machine with the knowledge necessary to distinguish between various pvb compositions. The multisensor sorting tool boasts an impressive array of industrial in-line techniques, including Raman spectroscopy, IRS (Infrared Spectroscopy), fluorescence analysis, and optical spectroscopy. This sophisticated combination, coupled with optimized hardware and advanced AI algorithms, ensures precise classification of laminated glass based on composition and degradation levels.

Once the sorting process is complete, Dismeco will efficiently separate the glass from the pvb, facilitating the recycling and reuse of both materials. This not only minimizes waste but also contributes significantly to environmental conservation efforts.
