Polymer-based coatings for textiles and carpets: desired properties and manufacturing processes

Not all the recycled plastics can be effectively reused in the original application because of a quality deterioration and the possible presence of contaminants; in this respect, textile manufacturing is one of the most common end-up sector for those plastics. This is the case of Sunrise project too, where Next Technology Tecnotessile and Radici partners aim at repurposing into textile applications the recycled PVB that cannot be reused in laminated glasses.
The third webinar of Sunrise will focus on the production of polymer-based coatings, from the manufacturing processes to the desired properties of the products. In particular, Next Technology Tecnotessile, which is a private research organization devoted to textile innovation, will discuss about the chemical treatments and the additives generally applied to recycled polymers to make them suitable for fibers formation, while Radici, an Italian company leader in the fabrication of hi-tech carpets, will explain all the steps to assemble together the primary fibers into an entire carpet prototype.
