Description
IDENER Research & Development is the IDENER division focused on the R&D activities of the group. Specifically, IDENER R&D investigates in the multidisciplinary field of Computational Science and its application to the optimization of systems and processes in key areas: Industrial Technologies, ICTs, Biotechnology, Energy, and Resource and Raw Materials Efficiency.
This approach results in a high added value that sharpens the competitive edge of complex systems by providing improvements in performance and cost-effectiveness. To that end, the IDENER group integrates concepts from four interrelated and complementary areas: Mathematical Modelling and Simulation, Multidisciplinary Design Optimization, Control Engineering, and Software Engineering.
One of the group’s research areas is “Chemical Applications”, where its main contributions are:
• Modelling and optimisation tools to maximize system efficiency.
• Novel algorithms and techniques for intelligent data processing and knowledge extraction.
• Engineering development.
• Decision making support tools based on optimal planning and scheduling of operations.
IDENER group has extensive experience in international R&D projects, having coordinated and/or participated in more than 20 projects funded under European public research programmes (FP7 and H2020) and in several private actions since 2010.
Role in the project
In the SUNRISE project, IDE leadsWP2, where the main contribution is the development of a Decision Support Tool (DST) for the complete system. In WP4, IDE is in charge of the development of the conceptual and basic engineering of both integrated pilot DEMO and, in WP7, supports task 7.4 for the replication of the recycling line. In WP8, IDE will carry out the Data Management Plan (DMP) and is also in charge of the contributions of the project for the RMIS database.
